webinar in Italy featured

On 10th November 2020, the webinar with title “Training caregivers of people with dementia: the person behind the illness” (“Promuovere le competenze di chi si prende cura di persone con demenza: persone oltre la malattia”) was held in Italy, promoted by the Italian partners of the DEAL project.

 

The event was introduced by Giulia Mugnai, mayor of the municipality of Figline and Incisa Valdarno and by the Italian coordinators of the project, who presented the objectives of DEAL and what has been achieved so far.

 

The invited speakers, Manlio Matera and Rayne Stroebel, gave talks on key issues in the field of dementia care. Dr. Manlio Matera from AIMA (Italian Alzheimer Association) Firenze presented the state of the art of the Italian Nation Dementia Plan. Rayne Stroebel, International Regional Coordinator for South Africa for Eden Alternative International and founder of Geratec, talked about the importance of a person-centered approach to the care of people with dementia.

 

More than 70 people, among which professional caregivers, volunteers, medical staff, social workers, teachers and students of courses in care work, took part in the webinar.
