Sparkling moments

With exactly that in mind, it is essential to create good feelings in sparkling moments together with the person with dementia. Sparkling moments are created when caregivers meet persons with dementia in a respectful and dignified manner, creating that undefined ´extra´. In a sparkling moment we see the smile and twinkle in the eyes and a bubble of the joy with the person with dementia. The way we meet persons with dementia is of essential importance. In the meeting, it is significant to keep the focus on always involving persons with dementia and their families in creating a meaningful life as much as possible. It will help to improve the quality of life of both persons with dementia and their families. This applies to persons with dementia in the early stages, who typically live at home and still have many resources in place and this also applies to persons with dementia in the later stages, who either live in nursing homes or at home, but with a need for special care. Common to all of them is that they need to live an active and dignified life with as high level of safety, self-determination and quality of life as possible. When we, meet persons with dementia with this in mind, there will be sparkling moments and these moments are essential for the caring relationship.
